1: And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share his glory and his honor when he returns. As a fellow elder, this is my appeal to you:

1 Peter 1:7
- These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

- And God, in his mighty power, will protect you until you receive this salvation, because you are trusting him. It will be revealed on the last day for all to see.
Acts 5:30
- The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by crucifying him.
- Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this to give the people of Israel an opportunity to turn from their sins and turn to God so their sins would be forgiven.
- We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him."
2 Corinthians 5:8
- Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.
